This is a vintage Dietz Monarch kerosene railroad lantern with a striking red 64H Fitzall Loc-Nob globe, made in New York, USA. The lantern body has a gray painted finish, giving it a distinctive look compared to the standard blackened steel versions.
The globe is embossed “DIETZ FITZALL N.Y. U.S.A.” on one side and “64H LOC-NOB REGD IN U.S.A.” on the other. The top and base are both embossed “DIETZ MONARCH”, and the fuel cap carries the classic Dietz oval logo.
This lantern measures approximately 13 inches tall, 7 inches wide, and weighs about 2 lbs 13 oz. The red glass globe is intact with no cracks. The lantern shows some oxidation and surface wear from age, but there are no holes in the body. The cap opens and closes properly. It is untested and offered in as-found vintage condition.
The Monarch model was widely used in the early-to-mid 20th century for railroad and industrial signaling, with red glass typically indicating stop or danger.
