The Marquis de Lafayette accompanied by Baron de Kalb, disembarks from his ship "Victoire" on June 13, 1777 at North Island, South Carolina
The Marquis de Lafayette, to avoid capture by the British fleet, approached the American coast in a wild and unguarded region in North Carolina on June 13, 1777. Accompanied by Baron de Kalb, he goes where he meets the servants of an American planter who take him to their master in their modest canoe.
