Vintage Cricket Grasshopper Stickpin Sterling?

Delightfully creepy stickpin is a silver tone cricket or grasshopper. It could be sterling silver -- its not marked at all. It looks like it might be a real insect under the metal coating because its so detailed and authentic looking! -- 1 1/8" bug on a 3 1/4" long pin with push-on closure -- Nice condition -- the only issue I can find is that I cant pull the closure off. I dont want to force it and possibly break the piece. Fun for Halloween!
