Vintage Clown House Shaped Biscuit Cookie Jar With Wrapped Handle

Vintage clown house biscuit jar This charming piece features a variety of hand painted clowns and has a very Punch and Judy feel to it It dates to approx 1940s This piece came from a huge estate collection many years ago in central Ohio Most of the jars in the collection were from the early 1900s to around 1960 This particular jar is relatively scarce, it has a square house-shaped design with a roof-shaped lid The side panels feature a variety of brightly painted clown and circus scenes in raised detail on the panels The lid is a peaked roof and features two smiley faces on the front that resemble classic comedic masks It also has a wooden handle wrapped in bright pink plastic lacing, common in jars from the time period The jar itself measures approx 6 1/4” tall x 5” across With the handle extended it measures approx 9” tall Nice vintage condition with age-appropriate wear, there are two chips on the inside rim of the lid that aren’t visible from the outside when the lid is in place (photos 13-14) There is all over age appropriate crazing which adds to the charm of this piece This truly is a special piece that would be a perfect addition to any cookie, biscuit or cracker jar collection Please see all photos as part of the description
