Chinese cork carving diorama, also known as cork sculpture or "Ruanmu Hua" (软木画) in Chinese.
The art form involves meticulously cutting, carving, and gluing pieces of cork bark together to create intricate miniature landscapes, often depicting pavilions, pagodas, trees, and mountains.
The diorama is enclosed within a wood frame, often lacquered in black, and protected by clear glass.
The art originated in the early 20th century, inspired by a "picture in wood" brought back from Germany, leading local woodcarvers to apply their traditional carving skills to cork.
