Carvalhinho History: Porto, located on the Douro river estuary, is the second largest town in Portugal. It was called Portus Cale during Roman times. Port wine is named after the city. In 1840, Thomaz Nunes da Gunha and António Montier Cararino, established a ceramic factory in the chapel of Senhor do Carvalhinho that belonged to the Qunita dafraga.
