Vintage Book, "Selections From Gift From the Sea" by Anne Morrow Lindbergh, illustrations by Bill Greer
This wonderful little hardcover book is dated 1967 by Hallmark Editions (selections from the original 1955 book by Anne Morrow Lindbergh). It has many fantastic full-color illustrations by Bill Greer. In excellent vintage condition, although it does have a (rather lovely) sticker label from the previous owner on the inside cover. It does not include a dust cover.
It's a wonderfully interesting book of nonfiction touching on various topics. The opening paragraph of the first selection: "The shell in my hand is deserted. It once housed a whelk... and then a little hermit crab... Why did he run away?" Lindbergh ponders the struggles of balancing a "simple life" with the demands of modern life, which seems surprisingly relevant even almost seventy years later!
Anne Morrow Lindbergh was the wife of well-known aviator Charles Lindbergh, and she was an aviatrix in her own right. In fact, in 1930 she was the first woman to receive a U.S. glider pilot license.
