Vintage Beijing Glass bottle with Two Layers of Glass Overlays

The flattened globular shaped snuff bottle is decorated with two layers of glass and hand carved designs of five figures situated near three large cauldrons. the lighter lime green color is a nice contras to the darker green. Palm trees filled the space behind the figures. Whether this is a representation of a scene from history or literature, I cannot say. The famous theme of seven sages of the bamboo grove is missing two figures, so I will leave it at that. A continuous band of leaf forms surround the bottle's neck, a hark back to othe same designs found on Chinese bronzes. The bottle tapers to a small raised foot, and the top is slightly concave, so it is good evidence of age when older bottles were done with concave tops. The cap is a green adventurine cabochon on a blue disk with a cork stopper. The bottle is dated to the second half of the 20th century.
