lwoods1188 Has this been tested for authentication? I’ve been buying Bakelite on Poshmark and had to return some because it tested fake when I tested it!

lwoods1188 @silverfox1126np Actually you can do it yourself! You can use Scrubbing Bubbles or 409 cleaner. Also you can buy a tube of simichrome on Amazon. What you use is your choice. Take the item to be tested. Wear gloves and face mask when you use simichrome! Put a little on the tip of a Q-tip and rub on the piece. Your Q-tip should turn yellow on the tip! That means authentic Bakelite! You can do this and once you do it, you can always test your own stuff!

vintage2classic @lwoods1188 I also test by friction method. Rub until warm and smell. It has a distinct chemical smell. Or place in warm-hot water for a few seconds, then smell.

vintage2classic @silverfox1126np Just rub the flat ring part until warm with friction. There is a sharp distinct smell.
