AUDUBON BIRDS OF AMERICA Fifty selections with commentaries by Roger Tory Peterson Published by The Macmillan Company, c1960. The set contains fifty prints measuring 9" x 12". Each print has a commentary written by Roger Tory Peterson printed on the reverse side. It took Audubon nearly 12 years, from 1826 to 1838, to complete the original edition of the Birds of America. These 50 prints have been reproduced from Audubon's original paintings.
The exterior of the clamshell box is stained and show signs of wear, but the interior, along with the plates, is clean. A few of prints have slightly bent covers and small signs of wear, but most of them are suitable for individual framing. A set of 50 loose plates (9x12") with commentary by Peterson on the reverse of each, housed in a linen-texture open dropback box. Great gift for bird lovers. Includes iconic birds like cardinal, blue jay, swan, owl, and hummingbird.
