This homemade box purse was likely an arts and crafts project for the signer Jo Johnson when she created it in 1972. Anton Pieck was a Dutch artist who painted everyday scenes and whose artwork was featured on decoupage handbags in the 1960s and 1970s. This box purse is made of wood and lined with a soft felt-like material. It features gold ribbon trim on the lining and has metal hardware. The gold tone hardware feels very substantial and gives the purse a weighty feel. I love that the top stays open when you open it up because the hinges don't allow it to just slam shut.
