1980s Americana black/white doll in great condition. I believe this was made by the C.W. Overseas Corp (no longer in business).
The doll(s) are connected at the waist, hidden within the reversible.
The exact origins of Topsy-Turvy dolls are uncertain, but most historical records suggest they emerged in the plantations of the southern United States in the early 19th century. Some sources indicate these dolls may have been created by African American slave women as a subtle way to reflect the dual roles they played in caring for their own children and the children of their white enslavers (Wikipedia).
