Grappa is an Italian grape-based pomace brandy of Italian origin that contains 35 to 60 percent alcohol by volume. It's an alcoholic beverage made from the leftover grapes during winemaking. Most grappas contain close to 40% alcohol, while some can be as high as 60%. Generally speaking, this spirit is clear in colour, potent and dry, with a flavour profile somewhat similar to cognac. But the actual taste depends on the kind of grape pomace used to make it. Grappa is primarily served in Italy as a "digestive" or after-dinner drink with its main purpose being to aid in the digestion of heavy meals. For many Italians, grappa is also a folk remedy for a toothache, bronchitis, rheumatism and indigestion. Grappa has a higher ABV (alcohol by volume) than wine. May seemingly appear in the same class, but grappa is actually boozier: wine has an average ABV of 12% while grappa must be between 35-60% in order to be sold; most clock in around 37.5%. By comparison, vodka, rum and tequila are generally 40%. In overall much loved and preserved pristine vintage condition with no chips, cracks or repairs.
