1960's A-line shift dress with a clean, structured form and a high neckline. The shape skims the body without a defined waist, which is typical of mid-century mod fashion. Cap sleeves—short and structured, extending just over the shoulders. Metallic brocade with a silver or icy blue tone and a raised, ornate paisley and baroque-inspired pattern. The reflective finish gives it an elegant, formal appearance. Mid-thigh to above-the-knee, which reinforces the vintage mod style. The use of metallic fabric was very popular during that era for holiday and evening wear. The dress has a union label from the ILGWU (International Ladies' Garment Workers' Union), which was a major labor union representing workers in the U.S. clothing industry.
Adele Simpson-America's "First Lady of Fashion," Adele Simpson designed her own collections and was one of the leading American fashion designers from the 1940s through the 1970.
John Doyle Bishop-Opened his legendary boutique, John Doyle Bishop, Inc., in downtown Seattle in the 1940s. John Doyle Bishop left a lasting impression on Seattle's cultural and social scene.
