Rich blue with black swirls - these cabochons are faux turquoise set in silver tone. Clip styling and absolutely gorgeous.
Mode-Art was founded by Arthur Pepper in New York, New York, around 1950. A few pieces were signed MODE ART, but most were simply signed ART. The copyright symbol behind the ART signifies after 1955. Competing primarily with Florenza in terms of quality and style, Mode-Art offered quality costume pieces through the 50's, 60's and 70's, finally closing about 1980.
These have detailing to the silver tone both in front and back and are both signed ART©. ~1” long.
Clip earrings became fashionable and trendy at the beginning of the 20th century and remained so through the 1950's/60's. They allowed larger, bolder earrings to be worn without stretching the ear lobe and were particularly popular among the upper classes where pierced ears were considered "gauche". While pierced earrings have regained popularity, clip earrings remain a viable option for those worried about weight or allergies.
Excellent vintage condition with no flaws - please see all photos as these are part of the description and give best idea of condition and size.
