Diameter 17.5” - 17.75”
This Kangol beret is definitely older/vintage, and here’s why:
Key details from label:
• It says “KANGOL” in plain block letters (no kangaroo logo).
• The text underneath reads “Made in Cleator, Cumberland, England.”
• The design is stamped directly into the felt rather than being on a sewn-in fabric tag.
What that means for dating:
1. No Kangaroo Logo → Pre-1983.
The kangaroo logo was only introduced in 1983, so any Kangol without it is from before then.
2. “Made in Cleator, England” → Authentic UK Production.
Kangol’s original factory was in Cleator, Cumberland, England. They stopped UK production after Bollman acquired the brand in 2001, but this specific style of stamp points to earlier decades (1960s–70s especially).
3. Stamp-in instead of fabric tag.
This was the standard for Kangol berets in the 1960s–70s. Later ones (late ’70s into early ’80s) began using cloth tags.
