Vintage 50s Wildlife of Bethel Deer Motif Hand Painted Wooden Bowls Set of Two Made in Vermont
What a wonderful salad or sides bowl set that's also art (and a piece of history) for your table.
You will receive two salad or side bowls with paintings of deer and forest. All are hand made from solid wood and then hand painted with rich colors to show the beauty of the VT woods. Measure 6" x 2".
About the company: Manuel and Lucille Miller operated a small studio pottery in the mid-1950s under the company name 'Wildlife of Birchland'. Their studio also did painting on wooden items for the home. He created the wood objects; she did the painting.
Almost more interesting is life of the artists, Manuel and Lucille Miller. They were libertarians and anti-draft protesters who were arrested after a 12-hour stand-off with U.S. Marshalls, who then threw Lucille in an insane asylum for a short period. In VT. In the 1950s.
Condition: Excellent pre-owned with no known flaws. The pieces have a heavy layer of lacquer that appears to resist wear.
Vintage and pre-owned items may have slight imperfections or signs of light use. Anything major that compromises the value or integrity of the piece will be listed.
