These pieces of figural barkcloth is made up of repeating 4-inch squares. The pattern features apple trees, hearts, tulips, deer, schoolhouse, and a pilgrim couple. Colors are bright with no fade and bright red, lemon yellow, apple, forest, dove grey and a little chartreuse round out this colorway. Patterns like this one were very popular in the 1940s and 50s, with small figures in squares. I believe the fabric maker name is Markwood Fabrics
These used to be curtain valances, and have a long ruffle sewn to the bottom and edges. Someone has already cut a piece out of one valance, but you can and should harvest the rest of the fabric to make something that makes your heart sing!
