Vintage 19th C French Faïence Plate MBCM Montereau Cars of the Future Rare

Excellent preowned vintage condition with no chips or cracks. This faience plate made in France by. MBCM Montereau Is part of a collection of plates based on fanciful automobiles called “Cars of the Future.” This particular plate is IX or number nine. It is the Marine car. It shows two women and a man riding inside of a boat that has wheels. Already on the water are three ladies in a boat. It’s hand sketched and hand painted by the artist in the company. Plate is approximately from 1920s. The plate is trimmed in blue flourishes on the rim.  In French it says: “Sur terre et sur mer, capitonnee, insubmersible, pouvant aller autour du lac et dans le lac.” In English: “On land and see, padded, unsinkable, capable of going around the lake and in the lake.” It also has letters (Bte S.G.D.G.) This is a rare adorable plate to add to any collection or to actually use as a bread or dessert plate. It is 8 inches in diameter. KR2
