Vintage 1992 Avon YSL Yves Saint Laurent Van Gogh Style Sunflower Brooch (ABBA)
This was donated to ABBA so I don't know the history, but it is a gorgeous vintage piece.
Yves Saint Laurent (or YSL) was a French fashion designer known for revolutionizing women's fashion from the 1960's to 2002 when he retired.
His designs often blended elements of art, culture, and street style. His vintage items are eagerly collected.
In keeping with his tendency to blend art into his designs, YSL's brooch design is reminiscent of Vincent Van Gogh's painting series called "Sunflowers" known for their vibrant colors.
It was designed exclusively for Avon in 1992. Also known as the Impressionist's Flower Pin.
The pattern is charming
- Four brushed gold tone sunflowers with glossy centers of red, yellow, and purplish maroon.
- Enamel pitcher with coordinating colors
Additional Details
- Pin and clasp are in excellent shape.
- I think that's an Avon Hallmark on the reverse side of the pitcher - it's faintly visible. This is called the makers mark - meaning this piece is "signed" and authentic.
- Almost 3" x 2 1/4"
This item is from ABBA’s Second Chance Resale. Earnings from this purchase support the ABBA Women’s Center in Gainesville, TX. “All Babies Born Alive” is a non-profit crisis pregnancy center. Let’s all come together to support women in need ❤️
My notes - Under 8 oz in small box but might plan on under 1 lb so more shippable
