1987 Topps NFL rookie card for Buffalo Bills legend and Hall of Famer Jim Kelly. Jim famously refused to come to Buffalo after the 1983 draft and instead signed with the upstart, and short-lived, USFL. He finally entered the NFL in the 1986 season after the USFL folded thanks to shoddy ownership. He became part of something special as he took the basement-dwelling Bills to multiple AFC Championships and 4 straight Super Bowl appearances, embodying the never-say-die spirit of the great city of Buffalo.
His rookie card continues to appreciate in value, especially since he was elected to the NFL Hall of Fame!
I am no expert on grading, but this seems pretty near mint condition to me. The corners are pretty crisp, the card doesn’t show any signs of yellowing. See photos.
Comes inside an amber mylar sleeve which provides protection from light as well as physical damage.
