vintage, 1980s. absolutely gorgeous piece from "Soo" by Soo Yung Lee. this piece definitely draws inspiration from both the 1920s and the 1960s version of the 1920s. that gorgeous textured velvet floral pattern harkens from the 1920s (think of those gorgeous velvet antique shawls). but that sheath style silhouette and the beaded fringe are more 1920s (fun fact: 1920s did have beaded fringe, which I find to be so much prettier than the more costumey bare fringe detailing in most Halloween costumes these days. Most beaded fringe dresses were showgirl outfits and definitely were not day dresses.). This is absolutely the most perfect dress to go out and party in, whether it be a more 1920s flapper party or even a 1960s party. The black color gives it an elegant, sophisticated look. The textured velvety material and beaded fringe, however, add flair and texture and balances out the flatness that colors like black and white can bring.
