1976 Bicentennial American Freedom Train commemorative plate from the Helmut Lihs Collection by Lindner in Kueps/Bavaria West Germany. Undoubtedly the finest of all the plates made to commemorate the running of the 1975-76 American Freedom Train. Rim is 24K gold. Image is locomotive #4449 and train emerging from a tunnel.
Plate is approx 7.5 inches in diameter.
This is the same type presented by the American Freedom Train Foundation to Mamie Eisenhower when she rode the train from her Gettysburg home in 1976.
