San Diego Aerospace Executive Director, Col. Owen F. Clarke (Decd. 1994) signed the story (12-24-74) of A.C. 28-311's last flight that he piloted. Inscribed " To Jack..". The cover also has "Jack" written in pen.
Entered the Army Air Corps as a flying cadet in 1939 and graduated in June 1940 with a commission as a Second Lieutenant. Served in World War II in Africa and the Pacific. Commanded a Wing in Korea from 1959 to 1961. Served 22 years and retired in 1961 as a Colonel. His decorations included the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal, the Army and Air Force Commendation Medals. Colonel Clarke was the Executive Director of the San Diego Aero-Space Museum from 1966 to 1981. He was an active member of the Masons, Shriners, Q.B.'s, Silver Wings, and VFW.
