Vintage 1960's Rawhide Vest with Western Fringe Bright Faded Purple - XS

ANTIQUE 1960's Groovy Hippie Vest in psychedelic purple. I purchased this vest in 1991 at an antique shop in San Antonio, Texas. I do not know it's history but it was in the same shape it is in now. It has not been washed or dry cleaned since I purchased it. Sun faded. Uneven fading. Slightly tarnished silver-colored metal hardware. Fringe is complete and has twisted - will require straightening if desired. The thickness of the rawhide varies throughout the outfit. I believe this was made with a single hide. Three of the long fringe along the bottom need to be secured - there is a rip that crosses just above three of the fringe. (wearer's right side) (see the last photo - this damage is circled in yellow) The tag is made of leather and I thiink it says “MEXICO 36” (see close-up photo) The back fringe is knotted and hanging from holes gouged into the rawhide. The back fringe (knotted fringe) is also uneven by design. It is not broken it is just uneven. This is not a refined suede. It is rawhide or cowhide leather. All fringe is present. All hardware is present. I am labeling this as XS because I wear a Medium or Small and this is a size too small on me. I'm 5'4 and 145lb. Chest across is 17.5 with a 1" gap in between the front panels. I measured this way because this is how the armholes line up. 36" all the way around the top of the bottom fringe panel. (tape measure) Entire length down back is 28" Without fringe length down back is 14"
