no chips or cracks This is a 1951 commemorative plate created for the Detroit 250th Birthday Festival in 1951.  The plate was manufactured by Vernon Kilns.  It features several historical scenes and landmarks related to Detroit, such as Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac, the founder of Detroit, and Fort Pontchartrain.  The plate also depicts the "First State Capitol when located in Detroit," a "View of Detroit July 25, 1794," and the "First Steam Vessel, Walk in the Water".  The design is a type of transferware, a style of pottery decoration where a design is transferred from an engraved plate to the ceramic piece
