Vintage 1950s Celluloid Plastic Piggy Bank Advertising Collectible by Whelan’s Drugs ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ VINTAGE 1950S WHELAN’S DRUGS PIGGY BANK Here is a vintage collectible piggy bank advertising Whelan’s Drugs. It is made of blue and red celluloid plastic and is from the 1950s. It is a big pig measuring approximately 10 inches long x 5 ½ inches tall. What makes this pig bank unique is the Drug Store advertising on it. Around the slot at the top used to say, “Get It At Whelan’s and Save.” When you put coins into the slot, the pig’s red hat tips upward. So cute! The original screw off cap is on the bottom of piggy so that money can be taken out. This bank was made by Wes-Ko, California, USA. This piggy bank is a great drug store advertising collectible. Mid-century piggy bank. Its painted features are still somewhat vivid. It does show some fading and wear, and the seams do show glue residue because of age. No cracks or chips.
