A beautiful Van Dell piece presumed to be from the 1950s. Photos show details. Approx 16 inches in length. Marked "Van Dell" and 1/20 12k indicating that it is a gold fill piece (heavier layer than plate). The gold has a rose hue to it. The ivory colored rose material is unknown.
Jack Van Dell’s father, John, an Italian immigrant, learned to fix watches in New York before he opened a jewelry store in Salem, Massachusetts, in 1939.
Van Dell was known for its delicate and high-quality pieces, using materials like gold, silver, natural stones, shells, and ivory. The designs often featured rhinestones, imitation stones, pearls, and genuine ivory. They created pieces that mimicked fine jewelry.
"Vintage jewelry displays the evidence of use and purchaser should not expect a brand new looking piece, but rather one with the sweet patina of time, with wrinkles, erosions, scars, abrasions and flaws. Like our grandmothers."
