Rare mid-century handmade Japanese men's classic penny loafers (c.1955–1968) for US 9 - 9.5 wide, made in Yamaki’s Tokyo workshop using Kōfu black shikagawa deerskin, famous for its glove-soft qualities.
~ Vintage Japanese men’s slip-on leather loafers
~ Black glove-soft leather uppers
~ Wide fit, comfortable slip-on style
~ 1950's replacement soles and heels with nails (Jiene Rubber branding)
~ Thick handmade leather midsole construction
~ Cloth label: “Shoes Yamaki Kofu”
~ Insole stamp: “HO CO’S MARK SHIKA – Made in Tokyo” with deer logo
~ Approx. US size 9–9.5 (wide) - Each shoes weighs nearly 1 pound
Measurements (approx):
Sole length = 10.5" / Sole width at ball = 4" (quite wide)
Platform height = 0.4" / Heel height = 1.25"
Small artisanal workshop construction with traditional craftsmanship (visible from stitching, sole work, replacement soles and heels)
These shoes have definitely been worn and have some interior lining discoloration, but they but are in solid vintage condition and will last a long time.
