Amazing little rare book from 1950 “The Chosen Baby” by Valentina P Wasson, illustrated by Hildegard Woodward. This is a hardcover book with a dust jacket. The book is a gentle, child-appropriate, introduction to the concept of adoption. Each page has a sweet illustration of the little baby being adopted and the step by step process that it took to “choose a baby”. The illustrations definitely have that midcentury flair. Some of the illustrations are black and white and some are in color. They are drawn precisely and skillfully but with a thick pen so the concepts are clear to children. There is an interesting illustration of mom and dad going to the adoption office to request a baby, and the dad is sitting back and smoking right there in the office! Size: 46 pages. 8.25” x 6.25” x 0.25” Condition: The main book is in very good vintage condition. There is a small to medium size linear tear in the title page. Otherwise, the book has all its pages, bright illustrations and legible type.
