Purchased in 1950.. this was my parents everyday dish pattern Franciscan Desert Rose 10" Salad Serving Bowl Made in the USA. No cracks or chips. 🚫🚫🚫NEEDS TO SHIP SEPARATELY NO COMBINED SHIPPING ON THIS ITEM DUE TO WEIGHT AND BRING FRAGILE🚫🚫🚫 Franciscan was started in California because of the unique clay found in the area and was produced at the Glendale (later Los Angeles) plant. Gladding-McBean chose the name "Franciscan," feeling it was symbolic of California's early history. The Desert Rose pattern was first manufactured in late 1941. It is the best-selling American dinnerware pattern in history. Franciscan Desert Rose was discontinued in 2013. The pattern was modeled after Rosa Rugosa. The simplicity of the look was easily adaptable to hand-painting. These dishes were made in California until 1984 when the Franciscan brand was sold to Wedgewood in England, and the production was moved to Staffordshire, England. In this case, the β€œMade in USA” is preferred to the β€œMade in England” Fun fact: In Golden Girls, Season 1 Episode 3, Sofia, Dorothy, and Blanche have tea out of a Desert Rose Teapot.
