U.S. Army Olive Drab Wool Field Jacket, also known as an M1944 or "Ike" jacket, from World War II. The tag shows it was manufactured on June 3, 1944, by "GOOD GRADE CLOTHES, Inc.". Size 34S Pit to Pit: 20" Shoulder to Hem: 21" Excellent condition - some imperfections where patches were removed. See photos This type of jacket was designed for both officers and enlisted men. The tag includes the Stock No. 55-J-384-560 and mentions the specifications "P. Q. D. No. 437," which refers to the design specifications for this type of garment. The "Ike" jacket was a waist-length, olive drab wool jacket officially designated the M-1944 Jacket, Field, Wool, Olive Drab. It was named after General Dwight D. Eisenhower and became standard issue for U.S. troops in November 1944. The "GOOD GRADE" marking on the June 3, 1944, tagged jacket likely refers to the manufacturer and indicates the jacket was produced during the initial period of its development.
