This is a beautiful painting that has some soft texture to it. painted with bright pinks, oranges, greens and blues. Many villagers moving about with an ocean view of the boats sailing by. The canvas itself is approximately 4"x6" with a gold 5"x7" frame. And appears to have been professionally framed by Claremont Custom Framing in Claremont NH.
The inscription on the back reads:
"Bought at shop of the Episcopal Cathedral in Port-au-Prince Haiti in February 1988."
There are a few small puncture holes in the backing and a worn spot & discoloration on that paper backing as well. It is hung with a wire hanger and the canvas itself has a few faint aged spots that you do have to look closely to notice, please see photos. Over all, in very good condition and a beautiful example of life in Haiti! This item has not been Authenticated, but has been apprised and is believed to be Authentic per the inscription on the back and knowing the person who had previously owned and loved it.
The Episcopal Cathedral has since been destroyed by an earthquake in 2012 and rebuild efforts were put into place.
