view-Master Model L Viewer Lijkt New- vintage Collector Grade - Red The longest 'in-production' viewer manufactured by View-Master, from 1977 until the end of View-Master production, because of its popularity and extremely low defect rate. The Model L View-Master viewer was the only  viewer to span across more than just one generation, and today it remains the most recognizable viewer, the iconic symbol of an almost lost remembrance. Almost lost, because one can still own a functioning Model L View-Master viewer for their favorite reels. The View-Master Model L was produced from 1977 and was still being produced in 2000. Initially the advance lever was a round ball, but that was modified to the disk design shown below. During it's production run the company has changed names four times, from GAF to VMI, to Ideal and finally to Tyco. This viewer has been used as the basis for 'character' viewers, such as Batman, Mickey Mouse, Big Bird  and Casper
