jandmbeemer2 @ducillelinda hi Linda, the metal is a silver tone. Not real sterling silver. It seems to hold up very well though. There is no tarnish or break down of the metel. It is shiny and looks brand new. My daughter has had these in her jewelry collection for over 25 years. She hasn't worn them. It was from when she sold Premiere jewelry..
