Gorgeous lidded Creel Nantucket Basket which is vintage. This is a rare offering of a limited edition run of White Ash, number 178 out of 1200 stamped on the bottom. Nantucket baskets are no longer being made by Basketville, Vermont. Nathan Taylor was the basket consultant in the creation of these ash baskets. Beautiful rich grains. In fact, White Ash trees are in danger because of the Emerald Ash Borer Beetle which is destroying New England forests of ash trees. Basketville makes a tightly woven, quality basket which wide and 7" high and 5" deep.
