There are three main compartments, each with different features. One compartment is padded and the perfect size for a lap top. Another compartment has an interior zippered pocket, along with two larger pockets and several smaller pockets for pens. There are also exterior pockets on each side for water bottles. Finally, there is a strap on the back, making it easy to place the backpack over the handle of a rolling suitcase. The material is not the typical "quilted" VB material.
