The frame's color changes illuminate when plugged in to a wall outlet or with 3 AA Batteries (BATTERIES NOT INCLUDED) Both operate with the on/off switch and are working. Or leave the switch off and enjoy the photo. The cord has a couple of white spots. Not sure what it is. (see photo) If you use batteries, place the first battery in the left slot, then middle slot and the last goes in at the spring end. Gently Used. This was purchased at a gift store in the 1990's. Scratches from age and wear, most on the back (see photos) Internet Research: A Google image search did not find a match, so this may be a rare find. It is a unique frame to honor the now Pope Saint John Paul II.
