Manufacturer: Originally produced by the New Martinsville Glass Manufacturing Company, established in 1901 in New Martinsville, West Virginia. The company was later acquired and renamed Viking Glass Company in 1944. Pattern: This specific design is known as "Meadow Wreath," and it's also referred to as "Floral Basket" or "Etch #26". The pattern features etched baskets of flowers alternating with wreaths of flowers, often appearing on the "Radiance Blank" glass. Time Period: The Meadow Wreath pattern was issued by New Martinsville from approximately 1926 to 1944, placing this piece within the Elegant Glass era, a subcategory of Depression Glass. Function: While commonly identified as a cheese or pastry stand, similar items in this pattern were also produced as cake plates, comports, and other serving dishes.
