VTG Maso Steel Document Box Midcentury Gray 1950s Portable File Storage Case Measurements are approximate: Width: 13 inches Height: 12 inches Depth: 5.5 inches This is a wonderful vintage metal file box in that classic midcentury grey. This the half-size version at 5 1/2 inches in depth and seems made of a heavier steel than usual. This box has some nice MCM styling to it with the rounded edge on the front and a label holder on the front panel. When opened, the front panel slides forward for ease of access. The file box has a small flip latch. The interior of the box is unique with an upper lockable level for smaller envelopes and valuables. The key to this smaller interior compartment will come with the box; unfortunately, it does not work in the main lock to the box, so this box must have had two different keys and the main key to the box remains missing. This file box is in good vintage condition and shows its age with evidence of use and wear. There are a few very light scratches and scuffs and marks to the exterior. The overall finish is in great condition for its age. The interior latching mechanism operates as it should with a little coaxing, and the cover to the box closes firmly and tightly. The interior shows no significant wear or evidence of hard use.
