VTG LAMA OAXACA MEXICO POTTERY

VTG A vintage pottery piece from Oaxaca Mexico in their indigenous black clay. It sits upon a trio of legs with a geometric pierced design. It has a bulbous bottom with a thinner neck and flared top. It measures 5" in height and a diameter of 4". The surface scratches and marks are not consider flaws in this pottery. The distinctive stain is created using tannins from oak trees and juice from the prickly pear cacti applied after firing. The history of pottery from the mountainous Oaxaca region is rich and complex dating back almost 4,000 years. This piece is signed and in excellent condition.
