This portfolio, or underarm case, by Lifton dates anywhere from the late-1940s to early-1970s. I believe the leather shade is "cherry." It has 2 interior pouches/pockets of equal proportion. All marks are visible, including what appears to be ink, however, its constitution is great/strong/solid. Really a well-made piece and I actually think the markings give it a more authentic mid-20th century appearance/charm. Please review all photos carefully for condition as it has 2 problems concerning the zipper. It's missing its pull, but it still zips/unzips very easily/agilely & you could put any substitute of your choosing in there. Also, 1 end of the zipper's teeth has come loose. It's a very small section that's easily hidden from view, and not zipping this very small part will not affect the safeguard of what's inside.
Photos 1-4, front & back of portfolio
Photos 5-6, full interior & exterior of portfolio
Photo 7, Lifton tag/material (tag taped down for photo)
Photos 8-9, approx. measurements: 15.75" width x 12" length
Photos 10-11, interior pouches
Photos 12-15, missing zipper pull, front & back, small end area where zipper teeth have come loose, interior/exterior views
Photo 16, 1 of many Lifton ads, this one from the Reading Eagle of Dec 9, 1948, p.3 (why I think the color would be "cherry" but I could be wrong). Much can be found about Lifton's history w/a simple Google search. They were very well-know for their musical instrument cases in particular.
