Here is a gorgeous, vintage, 14K gold tie tac by C.D. Foster (aka cdf or cfd) with, according to the box, a genuine stone. Unsure what the stone is, but to me, it looks like a pink star ruby. This item has been warehoused for many years following a store closure, with original price sticker still in box, and would date to the 1980s/1990s. 14K stamp shown in photo 4, measurement photo 5. Box condition, last 2 photos, sticker on bottom indicates stock#135.

Is the back portion also 14k or the piece that holds it

@celmaystermegg Hi Meg! The tie tac is 2 pieces, and only the main piece is 14K. Photo 4 is the rear of the main/ruby piece. The second piece with the pin holder, chain and T-bar is NOT 14K. Hope that helps, and thanks for asking! Mireille :)
