Here is a 100% wool cap, made in Scotland, which dates to the 1960s or 1970s. No flaws at all. You can see the symbol of Scotland, the thistle, on the tag as well. There are other tams on PM and elsewhere with this same tag, and different tartan names. Photos show all there is to see, close-up, inside-out, etc. Photo 6 is held up to the light so that you can really see the construction/stitching. The size is kind of a one size fits all, but I would say it's for women versus men as it fits me just fine. The origins of this tartan, and the reason for its dark colors, can be read about on so many UK government & historical websites that I'll leave it to you! (And for fun, the origins of "Tam o' Shanter" comes from the famous poem by Robert Burns.)

This is really embarrassing, but I had an older VIDEO of myself wearing this tam while Skyping with my friend in the UK way back when. I look insane because I've frozen the video while animated, but at least it will give you a sense of the tam. I have giant hair, so it is not secure on my head really. I'm going to delete the 2 photos after you've viewed them, out of total embarrassment! :) Hope they help. Mireille :)
