VTG Botswana Coiled Basket Bowl Set 2"Flight of the Swallows" Pattern hand woven

Vintage Set of two hand woven basket/ bowl/ decor items woven by hands in Botswana Africa by women. Beautifully hand woven coils with geometric shapes in the pattern known as "the Flight of the Swallows" in the natural fiber color & a brown die made from palm tree bark and roots. The larger basket has a yarn tied loop on back for hanging on the wall. The African basket is a cultural piece & adds an authentic aire to surroundings. The woven bowls look very nice sitting out on display, & they also look really cool up on the wall. Women of the Bayei and Hambukushu tribal groups painstakingly create this art from mokola palm tree fiber coil woven around grass or vine. The larger woven bowl is 15 1/2" wide & just under 4 3/4" high. The smaller basket bowl is 8 3/4" x 2 3/4" The smaller coiled bowl measures These baskets are very well made, and in great shape. The larger basket has a small darkened area near the base that made had been a drip of oil, I'm not sure, but it looks perfectly natural, like it has been legitimately used to carry items. Imported and sold in the 1980's thru Africa International Constructed using the Mokolwane Palm which are cut and boiled in natural earth-tone coloring which makes it a great addition to any style of décor from California Casual, Organic-Inspired... to Boho or Coastal Modern Design.
