Rare Bee Skep Skeps date back to the Middle Ages - one found in Germany even dated to the first century. They were used until the 1800s and were made of woven reeds and/or grasses and coated in clay or mud. Bees construct honeycomb inside the cavity, and, when the cavity is full, the beekeeper used various methods of extraction to remove the bees and harvest the honey.
