VTG A J THEWALT GERMAN STONEWARE BEER STEIN

A vintage Thewalt German beer stein depicting a courting of a maiden all in beautiful relief. It has a flared pedestal bottom accented with cherubs. The verbiage translates to "nice beer and a song never make you weary of life". It is lidded in a base metal and measures 9" in height to the top of the lid and 3.75" in diameter at the base. The lids to steins were added during the bubonic plaque with the thinking it would curtail the spread of the disease. This has the Thewalt mark on the bottom and I'm uncertain of its age possibly the 1960's. A wonderful addition to a collection or a great gift for the beer connoisseur! Thanks for looking!
