Another unused vintage piece from my personal collection!
This early 80s pin was made by Monet in the style of an ancient Greek coin
Features a bust of Athena, goddess of wisdom, war & crafts, in profile
(or Minerva, her syncretized Roman counterpart)
This regal lady wears a laurel of olive leaves in her hair - the olive tree was the gift of
Athena to the people of Greece & thus the city of Athens is named in her honor
Silver tone coin is set within a gold tone metal frame, as shown
Measures about 2.25" long & is 1/8" thick so it sits nicely on all but the thinnest fabrics
Signed Monet on the reverse
In unworn condition, the pin is straight with a securely closing clasp
*Last photo is courtesy The Cleveland Museum of Art & shows
a tetradrachm circa 440 BCE which clearly inspired this pretty piece
Whether or not you're a devotee of Athena, this pin is a lovely addition to a costume jewelry wardrobe
(Definite amulet potential with this one though!✨)
Ships same or next USPS workday so you can start wearing it pronto
