Vintage 1950s Sterling Silver Siam / Thai Goddess of Lightening Brooch. Open Silverwork Frame and a Hard-to-Find Deep Blue Color Enamel. Very Good Condition and the Fastener is also in Very Good Working Order. Signed Thailand. Measures 1.75" in Diameter. Weighs 7.56 Grams. Mekhala is the Goddess of Lightning and Water in Southeast Asian Mythology. Known for wielding a magic crystal ball that creates blinding flashes of light, thus the mythological explanation for lightning. She is pursued by the Demon Ramasoon, the God of Thunder. When Ramasoon throws his axe at her, she holds up her crystal ball and the flash makes him miss, causing flashes of lightening and the sound of thunder. Please See All Pics as Part of Description.
