Crafted in the United Kingdom during the late 1960s to early 1970s, this rare James Sadler teapot is a unique find for collectors and astrology enthusiasts alike. It features a glossy ivory finish with a bohemian style that complements its astrological theme, boasting a zodiac sign transfer motif of "LIBRA" and a golden scale image representing September 23 to October 22. The teapot is made of semi-porcelain (Ironstone) and has a 1-cup capacity, perfect for intimate gatherings or as a charming display piece. Newspaper advertisements for 1-Cup capacity Sadler Teapots were only found for the 1960s during a very thorough check. The Sadler teapot is beautifully embellished with a small transfer motif on the backside of the golden scale, adding a layer of intricacy to its design. Despite the presence of crazing on the vessel, this piece remains a treasure, complete with a built-in strainer at the base of the spout and the original embossed backstamp "Sadler / England." Unboxed and ready to be cherished, this teapot is a testament to the craftsmanship of its era. Dimensions: 6.4 inches L x 4 inches Dia x 3.8 inches HCondition: Crazing present on vessel, but not lid. No chips observed. Item has been steam cleaned.
